Ansonia Youth Football & Cheer (AYF&C) is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of its participant's families.

Concessions, gate, chains, 50/50 raffle, coaching, assistant coaching, etc. are all part of a very important planned program we provide for our young, up-and-coming football players and cheerleaders.

Therefore, during the course of the regular season all parents are asked to do their part by volunteering. A schedule will be posted with designated work areas for each home game. The following are the areas in which you may be assigned to volunteer:

Coaches: Head coaches are voted on by the AYF&C Executive Board, and approved by the Ansonia Recreation Board. Assistant coaches are chosen by head coaches. If you are interested in coaching, please be sure to mark this on your child's registration form.  You may do the same for cheering or get in touch with the cheering coordinator.  Do note that coaching is quite a significant commitment of time and energy. In addition, please be aware that, because you will be working in direct contact with minors, you will be required to submit a CORI form for a background check.

Concession Stand: Selling snacks & beverages. Each shift is 2 quarters and half of the half time.

Gates: Gate duty requires one or two people to remain at the entrance gate at a designated time. We rely on the generosity of donations made by people attending the games. You are responsible for the donation box, which is kept at the gate(s), and each shift is 2 quarters and half of the half time.

Chains: The Chain Gang handles the sideline markers for each game.

Mandatory Play Counters: Head football coaches select volunteers to count mandatory plays for the football players. Accurate tallies of plays for each player are required to give each child some on-the-field experience and to meet league rules.  Typically, the volunteer will be counting mandatory plays for the opposite team.

Video Taping: Head coaches will also typically look for volunteers to videotape the games for study by the coaching staff.

Home Game Booth Duty: During home games there are a number of positions that need to be covered to enhance the quality of game time.  These positions include announcing, scoreboard, play analysis (binoculars) and music/sound system.

Please be aware, you may be asked to volunteer more than once during the season.

Please contact Melissa Cavanaugh  to inquire or if you have questions.

Thank you, in advance, for all of your help and support.
